My birthday buffet
A month before my birthday, I already told my boyfriend that I want no fancy restaurant, or candle light dinner. When it comes to food, I am never a quality person. That's why I can't stand tapas, or fancy restaurant, where they put a thumb size meat on a nice big plate with the rest being just sauce.. I am a big eater when it comes to meat, that's why I request for a seafood buffet for my birthday this year.
I have a friend who has been telling me about this really good buffet in Pacific Palms hotel in City of Industry. My friend had a wedding held there. It's actually a very nice hotel on a hill. Just two days ago, we finally went there after all the craving I have had for the past month. They definitely got the variety in terms of seafood. They got everything from sashimi to abalone. The only awkward thing is that there are hardly any white people in the restaurant. Being a restaurant in a hotel, I am surprised that almost all of them are Asian, with at least 50% Taiwanese. Even the receptionist and servers are Asian too. Isn't only Asian eat buffet, or is it because white people rather pay $50 to go to a steak house instead of a binge eating contest.
When I went in, I did a quick analysis of what's out there, and strategized my eating sequence to get the most out of it:
Plate #1: Mussels, King Crab Legs, Oysters, Cocktail shrimp, BBQ Steak
Plate #2: Half Baby Lobster, Sashimi
Plate #3: Asparagus, Prime Rib, Roasted Pork, Salmon, Snail, Shrimps
Break Time: Shark Fin Soup
Plate #4: Lobster again (they are so good!), Abalone
Plate #5: More Mussels and King Crab Leg
Break Time: Shark Fin Soup
At this point, my stomach has stretched so much that it couldn't stretch any farther. It even hurts whenever I laugh. I was actually disappointed at my performance. I remember I used to be able to eat a lot more. This time I couldn't even get any fruits into my stomach.
Conclusion: Did I really eat $50 worth of food? I don't think so... Will I ever go back again? Don't think so either. But it's definitely a good eating experience.
